Kassala: Beni Amer Tribe Under Military Oppression – A Call for Immediate International Intervention

In recent days, the city of Kassala in Sudan has witnessed significant unrest following the death of Al-Amin Mohamed Nour, who was reportedly tortured to death after being detained by the General Intelligence Service.

This brutal incident has sparked widespread outrage among the Beni Amer tribe, leading to large-scale protests, including the closure of the city’s market and major roads, as well as a demonstration in front of the Intelligence Service headquarters, demanding justice and accountability.

The situation escalated further with violent clashes erupting between the Beni Amer tribe and security forces. The tribe has taken drastic measures, blocking access to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Intelligence Service headquarters in an effort to pressure for the dismissal of the local intelligence chief and the prosecution of those responsible for the killing of their young member.

In response, the Intelligence Service evacuated its headquarters, fearing retaliatory actions.

These tragic events underscore the severe human rights violations faced by the Beni Amer tribe under the rule of Burhan and his military regime, which has shown no hesitation in using violence and repression to silence demands for freedom and justice.

In light of this, a media campaign has been launched to draw attention to these gross violations and to urge Western media to report on the true state of affairs in Sudan, thereby increasing international pressure on the regime.

The international community must urgently intervene to protect civilians from the brutal crackdown by Burhan and the kizan, who are systematically targeting the Beni Amer tribe with racist aggression.

The humanitarian situation in Kassala is deteriorating alarmingly, with growing repression and assaults on tribes in areas under Burhan’s control.

As the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva on September 14 approaches, the international community must focus on the worsening situation in Sudan and take decisive steps to protect human rights.

The Beni Amer tribe needs global support to stop these abuses and to press the Sudanese regime to bring the perpetrators to justice.
