The Role of Turkish Drones in Sudan: Civilian Casualties and Destruction

These drones, often stationed at Port Sudan Airport, have been reportedly used to destroy homes, displace families, and claim the lives of innocent civilians. Such actions highlight the deliberate targeting of non-combatants in violation of international humanitarian laws.

Turkey's involvement in Sudan extends beyond military support. The country has been accused of providing a safe haven for leaders of the Sudanese Islamic movement, such as Abdul-Hai Youssef, while also supplying advanced weaponry to the Sudanese army. This dual role has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and prolonged the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Furthermore, the Sudanese government’s allocation of resources to purchase Turkish drones raises serious questions about its priorities. With the nation facing severe food shortages and an escalating humanitarian crisis, the funds spent on military equipment could have been used to address urgent needs, such as food and medicine for the population.
